Running... Again?

If you know me you know there was a time about 10 years ago or so where I was running. A lot. At least 5 days a week and at least 5 miles a run. I wasn’t training, I wasn’t preparing for a race or a marathon. I just found myself enjoying the time spent running. I wasn’t obsessed with numbers, but I kept track of them all and liked seeing improvements in time and distances. It was good physical health and mental health. Then I tweaked my knee. Not bad enough that I couldn’t walk on it, just a tweak that told me I needed to back off of running for a little bit. So I decided on 2 weeks. At the end of 2 weeks I aborted a run very early as the pain was still there. 2 weeks became 3, became a month, became 5 years.

Southbound (Photocentric)

So I lied. More accurately I didn't remember correctly. Today's follow up picture is not a carousel in the strictest sense of the word. I suppose it's more of a swing. But the tops sure look similar, huh?

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk was the definition of summer while growing up. It had everything I could want in a day trip; hot dogs, ice cream, rides, sand, and the ocean all in one place. Growing up it still played a role as the gateway to summer. I remember plenty of trips in high school with friends to the boardwalk (especially as seniors) to enjoy the beginning of summer instead of the end of school. Good times.

This picture carries forward a little change in my processing of photos. I find that I favor a darker more gritty feel to my photos, but I didn't think that served for these pictures, as they were supposed to be fun. I increased the saturation and went for an overall brighter/lighter feel. I like it for these photos, and served as a reminder to not get trapped into a certain look for all my photos.
